ABOUT... | |
What style shoes should we wear and should they be dyed?
Strappy sexy sandals are in but of course sling backs and pumps may also be worn. We recommend that the bride make the decision whether everyone wears open-toe or closed-toe shoes.
Secondly the shoes can all be the same or each bridesmaid wear a different style but all should be open- or closed-toe. We recommend dying your shoes or wearing platinum, gold, bronze or black depending on what color bridesmaid gowns you have. If your entire bridal party purchases shoes at Mariella’s each bridesmaid receives 15% off shoes.

What style is most flattering for a group of bridesmaids who are different sizes from full-busted to full hips?
| |
The 2-piece look is popular and flattering with A-line skirts. Each bridesmaid can wear the same skirt. Each bridesmaid can wear a different top, not only is this vogue and different but also depending on the girls figure, she can purchase a top that is most flattering to her own figure.
Large busted girls with smaller hips look great with a sheath (fitted) skirt and a V-neckline or scoop neckline top. Most of these tops have wider straps so bras can be worn. Bridesmaids with larger hiplines look great with A-line skirts and with halter or strapless tops Besides the 2-piece look there are a lot of beautiful gowns available. You need to remember that when designers design their gowns they always keep in mind that very rarely is everyone in a wedding party a size 8 and 5’8”. There are all different sizes and heights. So when you are looking at a sample remember that in the correct size everything is proportioned correctly.
Why are samples sizes always 8’s and 10’s?
| |
Manufacturers feel that more people can try on a size 10. For example if you are a 4 or 6, you can hold the dress together to see the fit and if you are size 12 or 14 you just don’t zipper it up all the way. There are so many styles out there it is difficult to carry each style in different sizes.

What's the story on gloves??
| |
Gloves are not mandatory. If your wedding is in the summer you do not need to wear gloves unless your wedding is formal. For brides getting married early spring, fall or winter, we do recommend gloves if your gown is strapless or spaghetti straps. if you wedding is late fall or winter we also recommend a shawl, shrug or fox fur wrap (which we rent in the store).

I want to wear sandals but need a control top, but don't want to wear nylons?
| |
Haines came out with Biker shorts - they are the top part of a control top pantyhose but without the nylons. They are GREAT!! They don't roll or show through your gown.
